Financial support for the Cultural Olympiad Peace Camp 2012

The First Minister has been asked to agree Welsh Government financial support for the Cultural Olympiad: Peace Camp.

Peace Camp is one of several Cultural Olympiad projects due to take place in Wales, around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Peace Camp is a series of installations, designed to be visited from dusk until dawn, taking place simultaneously on eight coastal locations around the UK from 19-22 July, Cemaes Bay in Anglesey will be the Wales location.

Section 61(j) of the Government of Wales Act 2006 permits the Welsh Ministers to do anything which they consider appropriate to support sport and recreational activities relating to Wales. Section 70(1) permits the Welsh Ministers to give financial assistance to any person (this includes companies) engaged in any activity which they consider will secure, or help to secure, the attainment of any objective which they aim to attain in the exercise of any of their functions.
