Environment Agency Charging Proposals 2012/13 – 2014/15

The Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development has noted that the Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs has approved the Environment Agency’s charging proposals for 2012/13 – 2014/15

The Environment Agency has a duty to recover as many of its costs as it can from those it regulates. The Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs has statutory responsibilities, under section 41 of the Environment Act 1995, for approving the charging schemes of the Environment Agency on an England and Wales basis.  Before exercising that function, the Secretary of State must consult Welsh Ministers.  The Minister for Environment, Sustainable Development  is being consulted on the proposed charges to be levied by the Environment Agency in 2012/13 and 2014/15 .  The Environment Agency has consulted on all its charging proposals, seeking the views of customer groups, individual charge-payers and others with an interest in proposals for changes to the EA charging schemes.
