Funding for projects within the North Wales Coast Regeneration Area

The Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage approved funding for Property Acquisitions in support of the West Rhyl Housing Improvement Programme, Demolition of 26-30 Abbey Street, Rhyl and Community Land Trust Co-Ordinator post.

The Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage has been asked to consider for funding the project recommendations made by the North Wales Coast Regeneration Area Steering Group on the 29th March 2012.  

Project Acquisitions Supporting the Housing Deliver Plan – Funding Support of £1,518,432.69 for 2012/13
This project will enable Clwyd Alyn Housing Association (part of the Pennaf Group) to acquire 14 strategically important properties in support of Housing Improvement Plans within the RA.  

26-30 Abbey Street Rhyl Demolition and Landscaping – Funding Support of £123,310.26 year 12/13  The current phase of the project is the demolition of the remaining structures and landscaping the entire site which will be laid to grass for informal recreational use and party wall works to number 24 Abbey Street..  

West Rhyl Community Land Trust Coordinator Post – Funding Support of £30,000 year 2012/13   This post will assist in drawing together with communities of West Rhyl through the development of projects and schemes that will improve the look and feel of the area through community ideas.  This will include both housing and environmental projects within the area.  The post holder will also assist in looking for alternative forms of funding to allow the potential projects to come forward.

The relevant legal powers are Section 126-128 of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. Those powers are powers of Welsh Ministers
