Investment in Urgent and Emergency Care Services (Saesneg yn unig)

The Minister for Health and Social Services has agreed the proposed investment of up to £10m within the 2012/13 financial year for specific and targeted funding to improve urgent and emergency care services in Wales.

NHS Wales’ Urgent and Emergency Care services have been under unprecedented and significant pressure for a considerable period. The prolonged pressure has continued throughout the conventionally difficult autumn and winter period through to summer 2012 with no sign of decline in demand on over burdened emergency care services.

The Minister for Health & Social Services has approved focused and specific funding for NHS Wales to allow the emergency care system to rebalance and to enable sustainable solutions to be put in place.
