NAFWC 29/06 - Child Protection Development Support 2006/07 – to be known as Safeguarding Children Fund from October 2006

It is addressed to Directors of Social Services in recognition of the social services role and responsibilities currently set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children and in the new guidance Safeguarding Children Working Together under the Children Act 2004 for ensuring there is currently an Area Child Protection Committee (ACPC) that will become a Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) in October 2006 covering their area.

Again this year, in addition to work commissioned directly within its development programme SSIW is allocating monies to local authorities to promote multi-agency child protection work and quality assurance of such work as part of the development programme 2006-2007.
