These statements give an insight into the research and rationale behind the law. These were made between 16th November 2004 and 19th September 2006.

It was announced that the Assembly Government aims to implement the ban on smoking in all enclosed public places and workplaces in Wales with effect from Monday 2nd April 2007.

The Health Act 2006 has now received Royal Assent leading the way for Wales to introduce a ban on smoking in enclosed public places and workplaces by Summer 2007.
