The Broadband Support Scheme provides support funding for the purchase of alternative broadband solutions where telecommunication companies have not been able to provide a service.

If you don’t already have broadband or you consistently get a broadband speed of less than 512Kbps, you live in a broadband notspot.

What is a broadband notspot?

A broadband notspot usually occurs as a result of the distance a person lives from a local telephone exchange – the further away, the weaker the signal.

Becoming digitally active means that people lead fuller and more active lives, and businesses are able to expand and compete more effectively. We are committed to enabling communities with the greatest need.

How we are helping

We're investing in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and broadband infrastructure to enable communities and businesses across Wales to get broadband. We’re doing this by:

Identifying and enabling notspot areas

With the help of BT we have identified some notspot communities and are carrying out a rolling programme to upgrade the infrastructure serving them. Thousands of premises in Wales have benefited from this joint investment that has provided access to first generation broadband.

To register the area in which you live as a notspot, use our Broadband Notspot Registration Form.
