The Broadband Support Scheme provides support funding for the purchase of alternative broadband solutions where telecommunication companies have not been able to provide a service.

The competitiveness of many Welsh businesses depends on their ability to use information and communication technology (ICT).  It can reduce transaction costs, remove barriers to markets, shorten supply-chains and affect competitive positioning, resulting in opportunities for growth and improved productivity.

ICT is also a major driver of innovation in the development of new products and services. 

Our strategy for helping Welsh businesses includes;

  • Seeking to exploit new and niche opportunities for Wales – including mobile services and applications, embedded systems and ambient technologies;
  • Providing appropriate solutions and enabling strategies for dealing with e-crime as it relates to business;
  • Supporting ICT applications that have an environmental benefit such as improving resource and energy efficiency and reducing the need to travel.
