An independent advisory group was set up to review the business rates policy in Wales and has now issued its final report.

The Minister for Economy, Science and Transport asked the Business Rates Task and Finish Group to look at business rates relief for charities in Wales. The Group has now finished their review.

What the task and finish group reviewed

The work involved:

  • Considering the recommendation on pages 24-25 of the Business Rates Review, focusing in particular on whether the relief available to charities should be limited in certain circumstances
  • Examining whether social enterprises and credit unions could meaningfully benefit from reliefs.

Next Steps

The final report has now been issued for consultation which will close on 28 June 2013.
