Putting in Place State aid Cover

Any support classed as State aid (see 'How to identify State aid'), will require the necessary EC approval before aid can be granted.

Any aid given that is not properly notified is unlawful. Aid measures will have the necessary approval if they comply with all the conditions of:

• See 'Existing approved scheme'
• A 'block exemption regulation'
• The 'De minimis' Regulation

If aid does not meet any of these three categories then you will need to consider one of the following options to make the aid compatible:

• Direct notification
• Other options for dealing with State aid.
