Services of General Economic Interest Block Exemption Regulation

The Services of General Economic Interest (SGEI) block exemption sets out the conditions under which compensation for the provision of SGEI will be regarded as compatible with Article 86 (2) of the Treaty.

As long as all the terms of the block exemption are met, there is no requirement to notify the Commission in advance and request approval before awarding aid. There is a requirement to provide the Commission with reports every 3 years.
