This Guidance is aimed at Chief Officers and all managers and practitioners in those bodies named in section 28 and 31 of the Children Act 2004.
The UK government has announced that the vetting and barring scheme is to be scaled back, while ensuring vulnerable groups are appropriately protected.

The All Wales Child Protection Procedures 2008 replaced earlier guidance and reflect significant changes in legislation.

The new procedures combine the shared knowledge and experiences of Wales' 20 Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) and the changes required as a result of high-profile child protection reviews such as the Laming Inquiry.

They address a wide range of safeguarding issues, including new mediums in which abuse can occur, such as the internet. They incorporate learning from research and practice from other parts of the world.

The shared Welsh procedures have been achieved through the work of the All Wales Child Procedures Review Group.
