We believe that children have a fundamental right to be able to play.

Integrated Children's Centres

Each centre provides open access play, early years education, high quality childcare, community training, and other vital family support services.

Core Aim 4: Play and leisure

All children and young people should have access to a variety of recreational activities in order to secure optimum health and wellbeing.

Core Aim 4

Core Aim 4 requires that all children and young people have access to play, leisure, sporting and cultural activities.

Local authorities should plan with their partners to provide play opportunities for children and young people. Youth support services should provide young people with their entitlement to accessible recreational and social opportunities, sports, culture, music and arts.

A range of organisations provide play, leisure, sporting and cultural activities for children and young people. They include:

  • local authority leisure and recreational services
  • Integrated Children's Centres
  • youth support services
  • voluntary organisations.
