Professional Development and Training Events
The Professional Development programme has been developed to promote best practice, standards and guidelines within the museum, archive and library sector in Wales.
Training
CyMAL offers a wide range of training courses for the museum, archive and library sector in Wales. Course topics can be domain specific, cross sector or generic such as management development. In addition to the scheduled events, courses can be tailored to organisation requirements, which can be delivered in-house or in partnership with other local sector organisations. Courses are free of charge and are open to staff and volunteers working in museums, archives and libraries in Wales.
Information on forthcoming training events can be found in the Professional Development Events section of this page.
Development
The Training & Development Advisor can provide information and advice on relevant domain professional development frameworks, professional qualifications, career progression, National Vocational Qualifications, Sector Skills Councils, occupational standards, and assessment opportunities in Wales. Advice and support is offered to encourage sector organisations to formulate and implement training & development policies, and to work within the principles of Investors in People, the national standard for effective development of people.
Workforce Skills Bursaries
Grants and bursaries are available for staff and volunteers to attend courses and conferences to develop skills and professional knowledge, and to study to gain professional qualifications. Please go to the Grants section of our website and see the Information for Applicants for each scheme for further information.
