Education and skills in Wales is the responsibility of the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS), within the Welsh Assembly Government.

In this section of the website you will find information about our education policies and what support is available from us.

Our policies aim to raise the levels of achievement in Wales and achieve a social well being that is vital to developing a prosperous economy.  We promote a culture of lifelong learning to help improve opportunities for people at all stages of their life.

Consultations

Schools will be provided with two additional INSET days in the school year 2010/11. This provision should assist schools to implement the School Effectiveness Framework.
This consultation document seeks your views on reducing the time available for individuals to object to published proposals which involve school organisation.
The main purpose of those provisions of the Act is to mirror as far as is reasonably practicable the learning arrangements for children and young people in custody.
