This is new guidance relating to the duty of LEAs and their partners to produce and publish statements of the provision of support for transport from home or place of employment to place of education or training for learners aged 16-19, and those completing courses started prior to their 19th birthday.

This guidance sets out:

  • the need for LEAs to take account of the needs of those who access post-16 education or training;
  • The role of LEAs in the production of transport statements, consulting as necessary;
  • The role of LEAs in the publication of transport statements;
  • The manner and timing of publication;
  • The role of CCETs in the production of transport statements;
  • The duty of school and College governing bodies to co-operate with LEAs and provide them with such information as they might reasonably require; and
  • The content of the transport statement.
