In this section of the website we aim to let you know how the Welsh Government is working to deliver a high-quality education system.

The guide provides parents/carers with information that will enable and encourage them to take an active part in their child’s education.

It is designed to complement the discussions which take place between parents and teachers.

Numbers will be calculated on an individual school basis, using PLASC (Pupil Level Annual School Census) data. Each school will receive sufficient guides in English/Welsh for each pupil in national curriculum years 1 to 9 as appropriate.

In addition to the bilingual English/Welsh booklet, the guide is also available in a number of community languages;

  • Arabic
  • Bengali
  • Cantonese
  • Gujarati
  • Polish
  • Punjabi
  • Somali, and
  • Urdu

Braille copies are also available on request.

If you feel there is a significant future need for these guides in any additional community languages please email us at parentsguides@wales.gsi.gov.uk
