Supporting your Examinations Officer during the summer examinations season

The summer examination series is underway and it's one of the busiest times of year for examinations officers. Examinations officers are crucial to the smooth running of the examinations. This ensures that the centre and candidates are compliant with regulations and that any last minute hitches are ironed out promptly and efficiently.

It’s important that Heads and Principals ensure that their examinations officers have sufficient time to perform their duties – especially at the beginning of the day.   In some centres we are aware that examinations officers have the additional responsibility of arranging cover for teacher absences.

DCELLS asks that centres consider whether, in the interests of candidates, it is possible for another member of staff to take on this non-examination related duty for the duration of the examination period.  This would free up examinations officers to ensure that examinations get underway as efficiently as possible and that any difficulties are resolved quickly and effectively.
