Curriculum and assessment
Our vision is to provide a coherent and integrated curriculum and assessment framework for schools, which raises standards of achievement and widens educational opportunity.
The Minister for Education and Skills has made a commitment to developing a ‘Curriculum for Wales’. We initially consulted on proposals to strengthen and support the teaching of literacy, numeracy and wider skills that complement and consolidate the approach taken in the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework. We have also consulted on proposals to revise the Areas of Learning in the Foundation Phase and the programmes of study in Key Stages 2, 3 and 4.
An independent review, carried out by Professor Graham Donaldson is also underway.
