Environment Agency Wales: Chris Mills

Chris Mills has been Director of Environment Agency Wales since February 2006. Chris is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Agency in Wales.

After working in the west of Ireland as a Salmon Biologist, in 1989 Chris joined the National Rivers Authority, which became part of the Environment Agency in 1995. He was previously Area Manager in Thames Region and Head of Wildlife, Recreation and Marine Policy.

Chris leads the team in Wales with responsibilities which include:

  • flood risk management; 
  • water resources and water quality;
  • fisheries; 
  • conservation; 
  • air quality; 
  • waste; 
  • recreation and navigation; and
  • responding to flooding emergencies.
