The feasibility study consulted on the Severn Tidal Feasibility Study in 2009.

Phase one

The first consultation was held between January and April 2009. It covered:

  • A recommended shortlist of schemes for more detailed analysis in 2009;
  • The scope of the Strategic Environmental Assessment that is being carried out within the feasibility study; and
  • The issues the feasibility study is considering and how these are being approached.

The consultation document from Phase 1 and the Government response are available at the bottom of this page.

Phase two

The final report of the study public was published on 18 October 2010. It is available on the Department for Energy and Climate Change website.

The findings have concluded that now is not the right time to develop a Severn tidal power scheme.
