Severn Tidal Power
The tidal energy in the Severn Estuary has the potential to generate more renewable electricity than all other UK estuaries.
A two year feasibility study was launched on 22 January 2008.
The study will look at tidal range technologies, and will consider the contribution tidal power could make to combating climate change and addressing future energy needs. It includes proposals for a severn barrage, as well as lagoons and other options. The study will be led by the Department of Energy and Climate Change with strong support from the Assembly Government and other government departments.
