We want your feedback on bathing water policy.

The Blue Flag for beaches is awarded to beaches that have met a number of environmental quality criteria.

They are valid for one year only. The scheme is administered in Wales by Keep Wales Tidy.

Beaches are judged against 30 criteria which include:

  • water quality;
  • good litter management;
  • easy to read information;
  • strict dog control; and
  • sustainable environmental ethics.
Marinas will have met 16 land–based criteria that will include:
  • adequate waste facilities;
  • provision of lifesaving equipment; and
  • a commitment to respect and safeguard their local environment.

Further details of the scheme and a list of Blue Flag beaches and marinas can be found on the Blue Flag website and the Keep Wales Tidy website.
