This Code provides guidance on when and what measures need to be taken to control the spread of ragwort.

There are five injurious weeds covered in the Weeds Act 1959. You can find out more about them on this page.

  • Common Ragwort
  • Curled Dock
  • Broad-Leaved Dock
  • Spear Thistle
  • Creeping Thistle

Primary responsibility for weed control rests with the occupier of the land on which the weeds are growing. It is important to be alert to potential weed problems and take action quickly.
