Summary of project

The project was to undertake a Feasibility Study of installing an Anaerobic Digester plant at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Llanarthney, with the aim of utilising food waste which is being diverted from landfill. A large portion of commercial and industrial food waste is currently mixed with other waste and land-filled at various sites within the area.

There is potential to utilise this organic waste through Anaerobic Digestor plants provided that it is segregated beforehand and kept clean without any contaminants. The quantity of food and organic waste from non-municipal sources will be difficult to secure with a need to build contacts with various waste contractors who presently collect bio-degradable food waste.

This Feasibility Study/Business Plan examined the current situation, and the gas production potential produced from the anaerobic digesters.
