The 36,000 children born or adopted in Wales each year and their families will know which new woodland their tree will be planted in.

All of the sites are open to the public, so that families will be able to visit, and enjoy the natural environment.

Between January 2008 and April 2012, a total of 147,000 trees have been planted at 6 new woodland sites across Wales.

Why is it good to plant trees?

 Planting trees to create new woodland matters to everyone. It creates more attractive places to live and work and helps wildlife to prosper, but woodland also has a key role to play in securing future quality of life for the current generation of Plant! children.

Because they are beautiful places they inspire our imaginations and creativity, they provide places where families and children can have fun and  learn about the natural environment.

 

Our new woodland after 3-4 years growthTrees are incredibly important for lots of reasons: they are essential to regulating climate and weather, important for the flow and quality of water, for mitigation of air pollution, healthy soil, storing carbon and helping society to adapt to climate change. They absorb carbon dioxide. generate oxygen, are home to a spectacular variety of wildlife and provide us with raw materials and shelter.
