This study investigates use of sunbeds by young people in Wales.

Assembly Government policy has been that the cosmetic use of sunbeds, especially by children, should be discouraged. This is due to the increased risk of skin cancer and other health problems.

In November 2008, the Minister for Health & Social Services commissioned a study into use of artificial tanning devices by young people in Wales. Cancer Research UK undertook the study having already completed similar work in England.

The results of the study, completed in April 2009, show a similar prevalence of use in Wales to that in England.
