The Action Plan sets out how the Welsh Government is meeting its commitments to refugees and asylum seekers in Wales.
This report has been produced in response to this lack of information to inform policy and practice in relation to the community cohesion and integration of Refugees.
The overall aim of the inclusion strategy is to support and enable refugees to rebuild their lives in Wales and make a full contribution to society.
Cupped hands holding the earth.
People fleeing war and persecution have a right to asylum and we are proud to continue to provide a place of safety for them in Wales. We want to enable them to restart their lives and make a full contribution to society.

We are not responsible for policy on immigration and asylum. These non-devolved issues remain the responsibility of the UK Government through the Home Office. We are however responsible for many of the policies and services in Wales that can help support refugees and asylum seekers.

We will work with our partners to help refugees and asylum seekers in our communities. Some of the key ways we will do this are through:

  • Improving communication – developing language skills and increasing appropriate translation and interpretation facilities.
  • Building strong communities – by building understanding between asylum seekers and refugees and receiving communities.
  • Improving access to employment and training.
  • Providing fair and equal access to core services – supporting refugees and asylum seekers to access the services they are entitled to.
