Gypsies and Travellers are one of the most disenfranchised groups in society. We are working to tackle this and ensure equality of opportunity for all Gypsy Travellers across Wales.

Our objective

We are currently developing a policy framework for the provision of services to Gypsies and Travellers in Wales. Our objective is to ensure that the needs of Gypsies and Travellers are assessed, planned and implemented in a more strategic way.

We are committed to ensuring an approach towards the delivery of services and support for Gypsies and Travellers in Wales which delivers fairer outcomes. This approach will recognise cultural differences and the issues which have often led to the social exclusion of this group, recognising the tensions which often exist between Gypsies and Travellers and the settled community, and attempting to address these problems by the promotion of inclusive service responses.

Guidance

In order to facilitate getting the existing site network up to a decent habitable standard we have drafted Site Design Guidance and Site Management Guidance that can be applied to existing and new sites.
