The Communities First Trust Fund (CFTF) provides small grants for small community and voluntary organisations in Communities First areas.

The Communities First Trust Fund has been operational since 2001 and enables small community groups to access funding for activities and projects which will allow them to continue volunteering and other activities which positively contribute to the community. Since its inception, the Trust Fund has supported the activities of almost 10,000 groups, including clean-ups of local estates, intercultural and community events and the purchase of equipment and community owned facilities.

The purpose of the scheme is to support any type of activity that involves local people, through small community organisations, that benefits their community. The activities must provide some measure of economic, environmental, social or cultural benefit for people living in a Communities First area. All Communities First areas across Wales are eligible for support from the Communities First Trust Fund.

The Welsh Government Fund is currently administered by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA). The full guidance and criteria for the Communities First Trust Fund can be found on the WCVA website.

The Communities First Trust Fund is currently closed for applications due to the realignment of the Communities First Programme. Details of the new scheme will be made available shortly.
