In November 2010 the then Communities and Culture Committee reported on their inquiry into Financial Inclusion and the impact of Financial Education.

Poverty and financial exclusion remain significant challenges for the Government and statutory partners, particularly in the current economic climate.

The Welsh Government Programme has made a commitment to reducing poverty, especially persistent poverty amongst some of the poorest people and communities, and reducing the likelihood that people will become poor.  The development of an Anti-Poverty Action Plan by March 2012 will bring together all the policy levers within the Welsh Government and statutory partners to help communities and individuals out of poverty.  Taking forward the Financial Inclusion Strategy for Wales will be a key part of this work.
