Our Package of Support for the Armed Forces Community in Wales, sets out our new and ongoing commitments to the Armed Forces community in Wales on devolved matters.

We are committed to supporting the Armed Forces Community in Wales and endeavour to ensure that they suffer no disadvantage in accessing public services. It is vital that public and other delivery services and bodies work together to develop and deliver support to the Armed Forces and Veterans' community in an easily accessible and coherent way. This will ensure that services are targeted at those who need them most and that they are delivered in the most effective manner.

The Welsh Government Package of Support for the Armed Forces Community in Wales (the “Package of Support”) was published in November 2011 in response to the UK Government’s Armed Forces Covenant: Today and Tomorrow.  The Armed Forces Covenant and its supporting documents summarise the measures that the UK Government is implementing, including non-devolved matters that impact on Wales/Welsh citizens.  The Welsh Government’s “Package of Support” covers those matters that are devolved, outlining commitments that are consistent across the UK and those that are specific and tailored to Wales.  Together these documents set out support available to the Armed Forces community in Wales.

The Package of Support is a living document and will be revised as and when new initiatives are agreed.

The Package of Support Annual Report has now been published.  The report details the significant progress made since 2011 in meeting the commitments set out in the Package of Support.
