The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs is an independant expert body that advises the UK Government on drug related issues.

The Panel advises the Minister about issues relating to substance misuse.

The Panel is made up of people with a close interest in substance misuse. It is an Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) regulated advisory Assembly Government Sponsored Body (AGSB). The terms of reference for the Panel are:

  • to oversee the implementation of the Welsh Substance Misuse Strategy and to advise on its development
  • to advise on substance misuse issues and operational arrangements
  • to advise on the impact of policy developments in related fields.
