Agreement which signals a joint commitment to reform aimed at delivering improved and cost effective services to communities across Wales.

The Partnership Council for Wales is intended to promote joint working and co-operation between Welsh Government and local government.

The Partnership Council for Wales (PCfW) provides the political accountability and leadership for public service reform and collaboration, and drives the pace of improvement of public services in Wales.

The PCfW is chaired by the Minister for Local Government and Government Business. Its key responsibilities are:

  • encouraging dialogue between the Welsh Ministers and local government on matters affecting local government in Wales, in accordance with Sections 72 and 73 of the Government of Wales Act 2006; and
  • providing collective political accountability for action to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of public services.
