The latest statistics on farm incomes produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 28 February 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Forecasts for Farm Business Income, Net Farm Income and Cash Income are presented for 2010-11.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 8 December 2010.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • Farm Income for 'All Farm Types' is forecast to decrease between 2009-10 and 2010-11, with average Farm Business Income down 17 per cent.
  • Each individual farm type is expected to experience a decline in Farm Business Income.  The decline can largely be attributed to a combination of higher input costs and a reduction in the Single Payment.
  • Farm Business Income on Lowland Grazing Livestock farms in particular has also been negatively affected by reduced market prices for finished and store cattle.
