Aggregate Agricultural Output and Income, 2011

The latest statistics on aggregate agricultural output and income produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 28 February 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on agricultural output, Gross Value Added (GVA) from agriculture and Total Income From Farming (TIFF) are presented for 2009-11. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 28 February 2011.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • Total Income from Farming In Wales in 2011 increased by 31% to £209.5 million.
  • A combination of higher commodity prices and increased production volumes meant that the value of agricultural output was 12% higher than 2010 at £1,393 million.
  • Input costs increased by 9% to £1,108 million as feed and fuel prices in particular continued to rise.
  • Gross Value Added (GVA) from agriculture rose from £219.6 million in 2010 to £275.3 million in 2011, an increase of 25%.
