The latest statistics on Farm Incomes produced by the Welsh Government were released on 28 February 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

This release presents first estimates of farm income figures for 2011-12 based on two different measures: Farm Business Income (FBI) and Net Farm Income (NFI).  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 30 November 2011.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • Average Farm Business Income (FBI) across ‘All Farm Types’ is forecast to rise by 16% in 2011-12, from £32,900 to £38,200.
  • A combination of higher commodity prices, small increases in production volumes and increased subsidy payments are forecast to outweigh increasing input costs.
  • Average FBI is forecast to rise by 12%, 14% and 20% on Dairy, LFA Cattle & Sheep and Lowland Cattle & Sheep farms respectively.
