Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation 2012: indicator analysis

The annual publication of the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD) indicator data, produced by the Welsh Government, was released on 31 January 2013, according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website These statistics on indicators of deprivation, aggregated to various geographic and non-geographic groupings, include more recent data for Wales using the WIMD 2011 methodology.

These analyses are published for indicators, where an update is available, in the following domains: income; employment; community safety; health; education; and physical environment.

Due to delays in data provision, the following indicators will be updated when available: low weight single births; all-cause death rate; and percentage of youth offenders.

The data has been updated for the following aggregations: Communities First clusters; deprivation tenth; local authority; LSOA (2001 Census); MSOA (2001 Census); Strategic Regeneration area; urban/ rural classification; and urban/rural classification in each local authority.

The published data can be found on the Welsh Government’s StatsWales website. Maps of the new Communities First clusters can also be found on the StatsWales Website.
