Welsh Index of Hotels and Restaurants, Quarter 1 2008

Statistics on the Index of Hotels and Restaurants include data for Wales and the UK for the period up to Quarter 1 2008. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 15 May 2008.

The key points from the latest release are:

• The Index of Hotels & Restaurants for Wales for the latest four quarters fell by 6.4 per cent compared with the previous four quarters. The UK index rose by 2.7 per cent over the same period.
• Accommodation sector output for the latest four quarters was 0.3 per cent lower than the previous four quarters.
• Restaurants & Catering sector output for the latest four quarters was 6.3 per cent lower than the previous four quarters.
• Pubs & Clubs sector output for the latest four quarters was 11.2 per cent lower than the previous four quarters.
