Index of Production and Construction, Quarter 1 2010 - Postponed

This quarter the Office for National Statistics (ONS), who produce the Index of Production (IoP) data on our behalf, are moving from a 2005=100 series to a 2006=100 series for both Wales and the UK. On receipt of the data from the ONS our checking procedures identified that the UK IoP data was on a 2005=100 basis rather than a 2006=100 basis. As the ONS are not releasing the UK IoP data on the 2006=100 basis until the 30 June 2010, after the original planned release date for the Welsh IoP we cannot publish the data on the 29 June due to pre-release protocols. To avoid showing the UK and Wales data on a different basis we have decided to delay the release.

The Index of Construction has been delayed due to the ONS delaying their publication of regional tables of Output and Employment in the Construction Industry. The delay by the ONS is due to changes in the methodology used to compile construction statistics which have entailed additional work to deal with measurement discontinuities.
