Attitudes to the Environment in Wales: Results from the Living in Wales Survey 2007

The latest National Statistics on attitudes to the environment produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 4 February 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on Attitudes to the Environment include data for Wales for the period 2007. The statistics have been taken from the 2007 Living in Wales survey, which is an annual Welsh household survey.

The key points from the bulletin are:

  • The percentage of households that carried out at least one environmental activity gradually increased from 93 per cent in 2005 to 96 per cent in 2007.
  • Households with an older Household Reference Person (HRP) or a higher income were more likely to have taken part in environmental activities in 2007.
  • Households living in a flat or in an area more densely populated were less likely to have taken part in environmental activities in 2007.
  • The percentage of households who have recycled paper, glass, plastics or cans, using a Local Authority collection service and/or a recycling centre have both increased from 2006 to 2007.
