The latest National Statistics on the State of the Environment produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 22 July 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website The bulletin presents information on the indicators monitoring progress against the Welsh Assembly Government’s Environment Strategy.

The key points from the bulletin are:

  • Of the indicators that have been defined and where information exists, nearly 40 per cent show an improvement.

In total there are 102 State of the Environment Indicators.

  • 40 of the 102 indicators are stable or show no clear trend.
  • 2 of the 102 indicators show a decline.
  • 12 indicators are under development, 15 indicators have no data beyond the baseline and 6 indicators are to be referred to the Environment Strategy Reference Group for re-definition.
