The latest National Statistics on provisional fire incident statistics produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 31 March 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on provisional fire incident include data for Wales for the period up to 30 September 2010. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 14 May 2010.

Fires:

  • The Welsh Fire and Rescue Services attended 39,100 fires and false alarms in the year ending 30 September 2010, an increase of 4 per cent on the previous period.
  • The number of primary fires in Wales decreased by 5 per cent compared with the previous period.

Casualties:

  • There were 26 fire deaths in Wales in the year ending 30 September 2010, a rise from 19 in the previous period.
  • There were 269 Injuries and a further 324 sent for precautionary tests in the year ending 30 September 2010.

False Alarms:

  • In the year ending 30 September 2010, there were 17,300 false fire alarms in Wales, a decrease of 3 per cent from 17,900 in the previous period.
  • There were 830 malicious false fire alarms during the current period a decrease of 28 per cent when compared with the previous period.
