NHS Dental Services, October-December 2008

Statistics on NHS General Dental Services activity and the number of people seen include data for Wales for the period up to the end of December 2008. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 26 February 2009.

Between 1 October and 31 December 2008:

• 579,500 NHS dental claims from dentists in Wales were recorded.
• 1,265,800 Units of Dental Activity were recorded.

Patients treated

• 1.6 million patients were recorded as having been treated in the 24 months before 31 December 2008 amounting to 55 per cent of the population. 66 per cent of the child population (under 18 years) and 52 per cent of the adult population (18 years or over) were treated in the previous 24 months.
