The latest statistics on Time Spent in Accident and Emergency Departments produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 18 June 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on Time Spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments include data for Wales for the period beginning May 2008 through to May 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 21 May 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • 92.2 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, an increase of 4.2 percentage points compared with April.
  • 99.2 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, an increase of 1.2 percentage points compared with April.

All figures relating to May 2009 are provisional.
