The latest statistics on GP Referrals produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 1 July 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on GP Referrals received at Welsh NHS Trusts for a first out-patient appointment include data for Wales for the period May 2008 to May 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 3 June 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The number of GP Referrals for a first out-patient appointment received at Welsh NHS Trusts was 58,458 in May 2009
  • This is a 2.3% decrease compared to May 2008 and a 4.1% decrease compared to April 2009

All figures relating to May 2009 are provisional.
