The latest provisional statistics on referral to treatment times produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 9 July 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website  The key points from the latest release are:

  • For patients admitted to hospital for treatment in May 2009, 87% had waited less than 26 weeks from referral to treatment and 93% had waited less than 32 weeks from referral to treatment.
  • For patients receiving hospital treatment in May 2009 (not requiring admission to hospital), 96% had waited less than 26 weeks from referral to treatment and 98% had waited less than 32 weeks from referral to treatment.
  • For Cardiac referral to treatment, 69 patients who were treated in May 2009 had waited more than 26 weeks from referral to treatment (2.3%). There were 15 patients who had waited over 32 weeks for cardiac treatment.
