The latest National Statistics on the ambulance service in Wales produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 5 August 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on ambulance services in Wales include data for June 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 1 July.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • there were almost 27,000 emergency calls, up 6.0% compared with June 2008;
  • 66.7% of first responses to immediately life-threatening emergency  (Category A) calls arrived within 8 minutes, 70.9% within 9 minutes and 74.8% within 10 minutes;
  • 90.8% of  Category A calls and 82.2% of Category B calls resulted in an ambulance arriving at the scene within the target times;
  • 80.1% of urgent journeys arrived not more than 15 minutes later than the requested arrival time.
