NHS Waiting Times: At End August 2009

The latest statistics on NHS waiting times produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 30th September 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on NHS Wales waiting times for admission as an inpatient or day case and for a first outpatient appointment include data for Welsh residents waiting for NHS funded treatment as at the end of August 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 26th August 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The number waiting over 14 weeks on the inpatient/day case list rose over the month from 3,676 to 5,187 and the number waiting over 22 weeks rose over the month from 624 to 1,119.
  • The number waiting over 10 weeks on the outpatient list rose over the month from 5,827 to 10,711 and the number waiting over 22 weeks rose over the month from 32 to 165. (Excluding Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).

Revision note

The original release issued on 30 September was amended on 2 October. This affects table 3 only.
