Time Spent in NHS Accident and Emergency Departments, September 2009

Statistics on Time Spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments include data for Wales for the period beginning September 2008 through to September 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 24 September 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

• 92.1 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 1.2 percentage points compared with August.
• 99.0 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points compared with August.

All figures relating to September 2009 are provisional.
